Gotta’ catch them all… Safely!

Pokémon Go has taken the world by storm since it was released last month. With a whopping 75 million downloads across the world, the numbers continue to grow.

Pokémon Go has continued to dominate the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

For anyone who doesn’t quite understand what Pokémon Go is, it is a gaming platform available on Android and Pokemon GoIOS devices where the player can navigate around a real-world map to find Pokémon (or Pocket Monsters as it is known in Japan). The game’s developers, Niantic developed the game after an April Fool’s joke released by Google in 2014 and the rest – as they say – is history.

Although the game has been highly popular, it has caused virtual and real-world problems across the globe.

Naturally, as the popularity of a game grows it is only likely to increase the possibility of malware. Pokémon Go was first released across the US, meaning eager players across Europe either had to wait for the official release or download the un-official version, with the possibility of malware being installed on their device.

Many players will be oblivious to this and it may have a long term effect on their device and affect the safety and security of their data. We recommend you install security and malware protection across all of your devices.

We help businesses across the West Midlands improve their IT and Telecoms.
