Collaborate to get better connectedHave you set a goal to get your business better connected in 2019, but are being held by the lack of internet infrastructure at your business location?

If you are not in close proximity to an existing fibre connection it is a costly exercise to get a brand new one installed as it often involves the digging up roads and laying of cables.

The answer could lie with your neighbouring businesses.

The Government’s Gigabit Voucher scheme has been put in place to help businesses like yours improve connectivity. Up to £2500 is available and although the voucher money is awarded to an individual business, groups of businesses can apply and combine the funding to pay for an installation project.

An example of where this joint funding has worked exceptionally well is at FarGo Village in Coventry. In 2015, this site opened as a unique shopping and entertainment space in the city centre, specialising in supporting small artisan businesses and start-ups on a limited budget. Each business applied for voucher funding and by joining forces, they were able to have an ultra-fast internet connection was installed on site. This meant that from day one each business had access to the best possible connection speeds.
