The Problem

The West Midlands Golf Club provides several services in very competitive markets. They are a fully functioning club; they also host corporate conferences and event and conduct weddings at the facility.

Therefore, as a business it is fundamental that they provide excellent facilities for their guests.

Due to their rural location the golf club have struggled with poor connectivity for many years and were struggling to provide a good level of service for their customers and guests. With individuals and organisations highly reliant on internet and connectivity, it is fundamental they can operate whilst in the office or away. The necessity for the golf club to have good connectivity was fundamental.

In Summary

HBT Communications has worked in partnership with the Golf Club for over 15 years, this relationship enables HBT to really understand the club's needs and the needs of their customers.

The Solution

HBT provided West Midlands Golf Club with a fibre lease line, this required having fibre laid from the exchange to the building. The new lease line has provided them with synchronous connectivity ensuring uploads and downloads are at the same speed. A fibre lease line also has service levels which include 24/7 support and is a dedicated connection for their business ensuring they are receiving the highest quality connectivity.

In addition to the fibre internet, a wireless Meraki solution was implemented. This allows the golf club to provide WIFI throughout the entire building, providing high speeds to delegates for conferencing which is also easy to access.

It is fundamental that any connectivity is secured, so HBT Communications secured the Clubs lease line with a WatchGuard firewall – this ensures all their information and data is fully protected and encrypted from any viruses or malware.

With high speed internet connection, we were then able to upgrade their existing Panasonic NS7000 telephone system to use SIP trunks, this means they are now benefitting from free calls to UK landlines and mobiles. This has also meant a reduction to their overall costs. The Panasonic NS7000 is a hybrid system and can function on both analogue and internet lines, therefore is a system which can expand with your business and requirements.

West Midlands Golf Club cater for weddings due to their beautiful and idyllic setting and receive many enquiries and bookings. In order to ensure good service, the club wanted to monitor their calls and service levels. HBT Communications suggested they implement a call recording facility which tracks incoming and outgoing calls but also records conversations. This has benefited the business as they can now use recordings for both training and they can protect both customers and staff if any issues arise.

West Midlands Golf Club is in Barston, Solihull, five minutes from Meriden, in the centre of England.

The course was opened in 2003 and is set in a parkland setting with mature trees and contoured landscapes, extending over 234 acres including the 21-acre Barston Lake.
